Writing Prompts for 2012

Before you even put one eyeball on this list, I want you to keep something in mind:

This isn't the way I want you to write your blog.  This isn't the order in which everybody will be writing their blogs.  Some of these prompts might not apply to you.  This is the first draft of this list and if I get a prompt from one of you that rocks, I will add it to the list.  Mkay?  Mkay.

  1. Who are you?  (List form, poem, interpretive photoshop doodle...lay it on us.)
  2. What song makes you cringe when it comes on the radio (or iPad or Pandora or...) and why?
  3. What is your favorite food?  With whom/what/where/when do you associate it?
  4. If you could be any character in any story, what would it be.  (Insert "movie," "television show," et cetera if you are so moved.)
  5. What is the biggest surprise about being an adult?
  6.  Think back to a perfect day in your life.  Describe it for us:  who were you with?  What time of year was it?  What were you wearing?  What did you smell/taste/hear?  Make this a sensory journey for us...
  7. Your first love:  blueprint for what you wanted in a future mate or what you DIDN'T want in a future mate.
  8. Tell us about an embarrassing moment in your life.  (Y'all.  Seriously.  It can't be worse than my migrating panties in a craft store.)
  9. Name the most influential person in your life.  Too hard?  Name three.  Five?  Keep it under ten, my friends.
  10. If there's one skill you wish you had, what is it?  Can you learn it?  What's holding you back?
  11. What five books (movies, poems, et cetera) you would want your children (or the children of your friends, family, et cetera) to read (see, et cetera.)
  12. What trend(s) in pop culture turns you off?  (I think things like this are AWESOME in list form.)
  13. What is the spookiest/weirdest/most unexplainable thing that has ever happened to you?
  14. What's the best gift you've ever been given?
  15. What picture (taken by you or a loved one) best describes YOU?  (It doesn't have to be a picture of you, actually.)
  16. If you were made Grand High Poobah of Your Country tomorrow, what laws would you make or abolish immediately?
  17. Is there something you look forward to every year?  What is it?  Why is it so exciting/special to you?
  18. Conversely, is there something you dread every year?  What is it?  Why is it so frightening/dreadful to you?
  19. What is your best quality?  Your worst?  Does your best quality make up for the worst one?
  20. What is the most awesome crayon in the crayon box?  Would you paint your living room that color?
  21. What was your biggest childhood fear?  Is it still a fear of yours?  Do you understand why you were afraid of it now in a way you didn't as a child?
  22. If you could go any place on the earth, where would you go and why?  Would you want to stay there?
  23. If they made a reality show about your life, what would the title be?  Would anybody watch it?  OR  With which reality show cast would you most fit in?
  24. What's your take on honesty?  Stark honesty all of the time or maybe a little fudging to spare feelings?  (Be honest.)  (Ha.)
  25. Are Heaven and Hell real?  What do these realms look like?
  26. Is a two-party political system the best model for the modern United States?
  27. Will humans colonize Mars one day?  Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
